Alvaro Morata to Chelsea deal backed by Steve Nicol

The German international has become one of the best central midfielders in the world since joining Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2014, and Mourinho has made no secret of his admiration for the 27-year-old. When things were not making a headway, Morata even cut short his honeymoon to push through his transfer.

Danilo enjoyed a few wonderful seasons at Porto before a millionaire move to Real Madrid that simply did not work.

Jose Mourinho has opened up on Manchester United's failed pursuit of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Moarata.

United approached 24-year-old Morata in May, ahead of the Champions League final, and negotiations gathered pace in the first half of June.

Then Manchester United expressed an interest, but that failed to materialise either.

"But we have not reached an agreement with his club and I don't think he can end with us".

Marca believes that Chelsea are still in the race for both players but the Blues will need to break the bank to lure them away from the La Liga giants.

Real have been said to want in the region of £90m for the forward, although that stance appears to be softening as they look to raise funds to launch their bid for Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe.

Last season Morata netted 20 goals in 43 appearances for Madrid. Despite more people reading Forza Italian Football, advertising revenues are falling - as is the case in general among media outlets.

Reports in Italy suggest the deal to take him to San Siro is as good as done which, if confirmed, will see Conte miss out on his top target once again.
