Arsenal hero: Lacazette not in same class as Chelsea striker Morata

"I think he scored an amazing goal, the guy was very honest to tell that he tried to cross, but during the game he had other chances to score".

"I spoke with Conte several times - and not only this summer".

"I had various offers this summer, not only Chelsea and Manchester United but also from different leagues", Morata told the Daily Mail.

"The most important and best conversation I had was with (Antonio) Conte, he wanted me to come here".

Chelsea instead broke their transfer record to sign Morata from Real Madrid in a £60m deal.

In the end, United switched their attention to Romelu Lukaku, landing him for £75million from Everton, while Morata chose to go to Stamford Bridge for a similar fee.

The-24-year-old confirmed that the Red Devils were one of many teams interested in his services. I thought they were in for a different player. maybe Lukaku or maybe someone else, I don't know.

"At the start of the summer, I didn't know that Chelsea were interested in me".

Davide Zappacosta finally gives us some depth in both wing-back positions; he seems like a great athlete who loves to get down the flanks and cross, and will give Victor Moses (and possibly Marcos Alonso) a proper fight for the starting role, something which was absent last season.

"It was only two months with him but it felt like I'd known him forever".

"I think this is positive, he is a really good guy". Aerial strength is in fact not Morata's strength - he has the ability to make quality runs in behind the defense in the first place, better than that of Diego Costa.

But I couldn't stay to be a substitute.

"At the moment you might say that Lukaku is the better striker, based on amount of goals scored, but Morata has huge potential".

Moreover, with the World Cup coming up in 2018, he was keen to play on a regular basis to ensure he makes the Spain squad for next summer's showpiece event.

Morata started the 3-2 defeat against Burnley on the bench but came on to score. However, his contract extension this summer was merely a pay rise and there still remain only two years left on his contract. He was in the early stages of losing his voice but he is hoping a dose of antibiotics can help him to recover enough to continue barking out his instructions on the touchline. "I am ambitious and hungry to succeed", he added.
