Similarly to previous annual charts, Apple has revealed top charts for the most popular apps and games of the year too.

Cupertino on Thursday unveiled the most popular apps, music, movies, TV Shows, books, and podcasts of 2017 across the App Store, Apple Music, iTunes, iBooks, and Apple Podcasts.

Recode reported that the company increased its political lobbying effort earlier this year with a view to drawing political attention to what it argues are discriminatory measures. Also mentioned is that the most downloaded apps of 2017 are Bitmoji, Snapchat, YouTube, Messenger, Instagram and Facebook. "We are certain you will find that our new website has a fresh modern look, is easy to use and is informative", says Mr. Kirk Duncan - Director, The Mobile Apps Man.

For iPad, Apple has chosen Affinity Photo, the desktop-class photo editor, and the game The Witness.

The dispute follows reports in August that 28 China-based developers had filed a complaint against Apple alleging that it breached the country's antitrust legislation.

Apple also announced the biggest trends of 2017 and the most popular apps, music, movies and more. The game is available for free. Disney's Moana was the most-watched movie, with "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" and "Wonder Woman" coming in as runners-up. HBO's Game of Thrones was the most downloaded show on iTunes this year. See the full charts in the App Store. This includes different categories such as casual games, general apps, augmented reality and more. Taylor Swift's latest album, Reputation, has already reached the third spot on the 2017 US top album charts despite having just launched on November 10.

In India, the Humma Song bagged the top song honours, followed by Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You".
